Learn to process and do your photos justice.

Processing Photos Workshop

Join us and learn the skill of photo processing, enhancing the detail of your photography while keeping the natural and real elements . When you take a photo on a digital camera it records all of the information from the dark shadows to the light highlights, with all the colours and details in between. These can’t be displayed immediately in a file and need to be brought back out in the photo via image processing.
When you take a photo on a phone as a jpeg for instance the device automatically applies processing to do this for you. Shooting in Raw gives you the ability to control this yourself. We can teach you the skills required to get the best from your images and teach you the most effective ways to save your imagery.

Secure your spot in our workshops, available for booking in either group settings or private one-on-one sessions. The only additional costs you might incur are related to food, drinks, and accommodation, but worry not – we’re more than willing to assist in organising and offering advice throughout your journey.

In alignment with our commitment to mirroring the authentic landscape photography process, we maintain a flexible approach to our itinerary, adapting to the ever-changing weather conditions. We strive to optimise the workshop experience by tailoring our plans as close to the day as possible. While we might not have everything set in stone until the last minute, rest assured that this flexibility ensures the best possible shooting conditions.

Should weather conditions prove challenging and impossible to navigate, we’ll reschedule the workshop for the next available date. Don’t be discouraged by a little rain or wind – these elements can often contribute to the creation of breathtaking moody photography, especially along the rugged beauty of coastal landscapes.

Through years of hands-on experience and a continually growing love for landscape photography and astrophotography, Andy’s journey evolved into a profound passion.

The excitement of immersing oneself in nature, uncovering hidden gems, and immortalising these moments through the lens ignited Andy’s desire to share this art with others.

Emma brings a wealth of experience, spanning design, interior design, and photography. Her extensive technical expertise and theoretical understanding seamlessly complement our workshops. As a capable leader, Emma is eager to impart her skills and guide others on their creative journey.

Together, Emma and Andy form a strong bond to deliver workshops with not only photography knowledge, but a passion for the natural environment and local flora and fauna.

I took Andy’s sunset photography workshop and it was honestly such good value for money. The face to face, on-site workshop went for 2 hours where I learnt so many tips and tricks. Andy teaches in depth but is approachable and passionate. Thanks ASP!

I have just spent the most amazing day with Emma and Andy doing their Great Ocean Road Photography Workshop. I have taken so many great photos, gained valuable insights into how to capture amazing photos and improve my skills, and spent the day with great company. Andy’s passion for photography is obvious and he was eager to pass his experience on. And Emma had so many fascinating facts and stories about the towns and their tourist attractions, local flora and fauna and, of course, her own photography knowledge. Highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. The workshops will go through everything you need to know to join us on the workshop.

For those of you that do have experience and want to further your skills we can delve into more advanced shooting techniques.

Make sure that you have your camera, lenses and a couple of charged batteries and SD cards.

A tripod can be handy but be prepared to carry it around with you. Feel free to bring your filters if you’d like.

Some sun protection is essential too. A protective hat, sunglasses and sunscreen is worth bringing along.

Prepare for the weather as it can often change quickly in Ballarat. Waterproof jackets, hats and gloves are advisable. Sun protection is also worthwhile bringing.

When the sun does go down the temperature drops pretty quickly so have something warm.

Even if the weather is not perfect the workshop will still go ahead. A clear sky is not always the best possibility for a photo. If there is some cloud, mist or a bit of rain, some added atmosphere can almost be a bonus to the photography, and we will learn how to use that to your advantage.

For astrophotography if the weather is looking like it will affect the workshop too much we will reach out.

If you’d like to learn more about processing and developing the photos you’ve taken we also run workshops to do just that.

Join us on a processing workshop to learn how to finalise your photos and get them ready for print and digital use.

If you can’t make the workshop on the set days feel free to reach out to us and let us know, we often cater to requests.

We absolutely do. Regardless of your additional needs we will do our best to accommodate where possible. Carers/companions are also welcome to join at no additional cost. Please let us know if you wish to have an additional participant.

We do not supply food on our workshops, however we strongly recommend bringing snacks and supplies of your own. Our vehicle does have refrigeration if you’d like to keep something cool. Our longer workshops will have time to stop to pick up lunch.
