Explore the Great Ocean Road with an engaging photography workshop.
The Great Ocean Road is a playground for landscape photographers, with so much on offer from rugged coastlines to waterfalls and redwood forests. We are absolutely blessed to have the coast on our doorstep to explore, however it’s not just the stunning beaches that the Great Ocean Road has on offer. Discover ancient rainforests with giant towering ferns and beech trees, waterfalls that flow through valleys down to the ocean and native wildlife that make this region truly unique. It’s a photographer’s dream, and you could experience this first hand, all while learning the best techniques to capture eye-catching one of a kind photos!
Leaving from Ballarat at the train station begin the day's photography workshop towards the coast. Feel free to bring your gear, and make use of the fridge on board for snacks and drinks.
Our first stop will be at a stunning waterfall in the Otways. Huge rock faces, gum trees and wildlife make it a great spot to begin the day. Learn long exposure photography with us with flowing water.
We'll head on down to the beach and grab some ocean photography along the amazing coastlines, and if lucky, see some of the local seal colonies. Here we will check out some photography the ocean has to offer such as ICM (intentional camera movement) and telephoto.
Lunch is served in Apollo Bay. Feel free to pick from some of the local eateries, and our favourite - the ice cream. Take a break and have a rest before we head on to see more photographic locations.
A special spot along the extraordinary coast is the rainforest, and it is one of our favourite stops along the Great Ocean Road. The area is home to some of the only beech forests in Australia and it makes for great photography.
As we head towards Port Campbell our final stop for the day is the famous 12 Apostles. Check out the stunning coastline and scenery and learn to shoot wide ocean imagery.
Sit back and relax as we had back to Ballarat and enjoy the sights of regional Victoria.
Welcome home! The day workshop ends back at the train station with your newly learned skills to take on your photography journey.
In alignment with our commitment to mirroring the authentic landscape photography process, we maintain a flexible approach to our itinerary, adapting to the ever-changing weather conditions. We strive to optimise the workshop experience by tailoring our plans as close to the day as possible. While we might not have everything set in stone until the last minute, rest assured that this flexibility ensures the best possible shooting conditions.
Should weather conditions prove challenging and impossible to navigate, we’ll reschedule the workshop for the next available date. Don’t be discouraged by a little rain or wind – these elements can often contribute to the creation of breathtaking moody photography, especially along the rugged beauty of coastal landscapes.
